Long-time sports photographer Neil Leifer, probably best known for his years with Sports Illustrated, has periodically published collections of his excellent work. "Sport", released in 1992, is one such collection. It contains close to two hundred vivid sports images. Its coverage ranges from Olympic basketball (the original "Dream Team") to gymnastics to boxing to road racing to golf to equestrian events, and much else.

While many of the pictures are staged portraits of prominent sports personalities (including an iconic shot of Coach "Bear" Bryant of Alabama), many more are action shots capturing a moment in a sports competition. A two page overhead picture depicts the finals of the eight-oared shell competition in the 1984 Olympics. Another shows Jack Nicholas at the 1975 Masters, captured against the background of the crowd and of a reflecting water hazard. Composition of the shots is invariably impeccable. The limited text provides necessary information about the subject of each picture. The coffee table book-sized format enhances the viewing experience.
